Touchless Musical Instrument

A theremin with pitch and volume coded with VHDL and completely controlled with motion sensors. The display shows the current sound frequency being outputted as well as LEDs which illuminate corresponding to pitch.

Stirling Engine

A traditional thermal engine controlled entirely by air pressure differentials. Built by lathe, mill, and bandsaw and operated with a blowtorch (!). It consistently runs at 600rpm.

Beam Bridge

Standard beam bridge designed in Solidworks. Frame built from laser-cut 3 ply birch plywood and reinforced lengthwise with rectangular carbon fiber tubing. It supported 10kN of bending force.

No-Spill Ladle

Mechanical ladle designed to eliminate a user's awkward arm movement when pouring. Neck and handle were built by repurposing kitchen equipment and cup designed in Solidworks and 3D printed. Cup was coated with silicon solution to prevent dripping. A motor-run testing apparatus was built and implemented to ensure stability.
